LOIS MITCHELL Obituary
LOIS ARLENE MITCHELL, 70, of Martins Ferry, OH passed away Friday, November 10, 2023.
She was born in Martins Ferry, OH on August 16, 1953, daughter of the late Carl Arthur and Lois Kathryn Mitchell (née Ehni).
Lois was a life-long resident of Martins Ferry. She graduated from Martins Ferry High School in 1971 and joined the Martins Ferry school system upon graduating from Ohio University in 1975. She taught elementary school and was an elementary principal in Martins Ferry for her entire 35 year career, retiring in 2009. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, and was a passionate supporter of animals. Lois adopted and provided a loving home to more than 15 dogs throughout her life, including her two Groucho Barxes and beloved Louie. She spent many summers in Pompano Beach, FL with her extended family and loved the ocean.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Carl (Mitch) Robert, and sister-in-law, Sharon Wutzler Mitchell.
She is survived by brother, Richard (Dick) Arthur Mitchell, of Englewood, FL; sister, Carole Ann Mitchell (Gregory Lafyatis), of Upper Arlington, OH; niece, Stefanie Elaine Mitchell (Loc Hong), of Chicago, IL; niece, Stacey Erin (Todd) Mitchell Garcia, and great-nephew, Theodore Arthur Garcia, of Chicago, IL; Brittnee Wright and her children, of Martins Ferry, OH.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Keller Funeral Home, 615 Hanover Street, Martins Ferry, OH where friends will be received Wednesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm.
Funeral service will be held at the funeral home Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 1 pm with Rev. William O. Webster, Jr. officiating.
Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Road Home Animal Project, P. O. Box 522, St. Clairsville, OH 43950.
